The next day, Monika takes Sayori's place and brings Serena back to the club. Realizing that something has happened to her, Serena rushes to Sayori's home, where he discovers that she has hanged herself. Soon, Sayori confesses her love for her and reveals to Serena hat she suffers from depression. As the club prepares for the school's upcoming cultural festival, Sayori, Yuri, and Natsuki start to act weird. Serena soon starts to love writing and sharing poems with her new club-mates and deepens her relationships with them. Serena reluctantly agrees to her proposal and meets the other members of the club: the assertive Natsuki, the shy Yuri, and the bubbly club president Monika. Serena is invited by her cheerful childhood sweetheart, to join their high school's literature club as a remedy for her insular nature.
